Down the Rabbit Hole — A Custom Alice in Wonderland Wedding Card
Share
Some cards are made. This one was designed.
When a client came to me with a wedding commission, the brief was clear: Alice in Wonderland, through and through. The wedding had a full immersive theme — invitations, guests arriving in character, the works. The card had to live up to that world.
The catch? I had nothing in my stash that fit. So I designed every single element from scratch in CorelDraw and cut them on my Cricut.

The Design
The foundation starts with a white 5×7 notecard base. On top sits a bold red cardstock mat, then my Harlequin Black & White check patterned cardstock panel — the perfect nod to Wonderland's topsy-turvy aesthetic. The layering creates a crisp, striking border that frames the check pattern

The sentiment "Down the Rabbit Hole..." is printed on a custom panel, placed inside a Gina K. Designs large double-stitched oval die cut. And here's the maker trick: I designed a cut-out placement template in CorelDraw so the oval lands perfectly every single time — jump to that moment in the video linked above! at time stamp 1:24. The sentiment oval is matted in red, tying it back to the card base.

The Hat
The Mad Hatter's top hat was designed in CorelDraw and cut on the Cricut from black cardstock — four layers deep for dimension — with a light blue hat band and the iconic 10/6 price tag. Every detail accounted for.

The Inside
The inside panel carries the closing sentiment: "And on to your own Wonderland."

The Reveal
Every element came together into something that felt genuinely Wonderland — dramatic, a little whimsical, and unmistakably handmade. The Harlequin check, the red mat, the Mad Hatter hat sitting just so in the oval, and a hand-stamped envelope with red heart details to complete the set. A card built to match a wedding as theatrical as the world it was inspired by.
